A lead auditor plans the audit, leads a team, gathers and evaluates evidence, raises findings, and reports in a way that stands up to challenge. Each of those five verbs turns up in the exercises, and each turns up in the paper.<\/p>\n<p>Attendance doesn't depend on having audited anything before. Plenty of delegates come from compliance, procurement, legal, HR or internal control, and have never written an audit report. What helps enormously is familiarity with the standard itself. Read it before you arrive, even loosely. The delegates who struggle in the exam are rarely the inexperienced ones. They are the ones meeting the clause structure for the first time on Monday morning.<\/p>\n<p>The course sits within the <a href=\"\/OM\/iso-lead-auditor-training\/\">ISO lead auditor training<\/a> range. Its intent. Why must top management commitment be written down? Why does the anti-bribery function need somewhere independent to report? Candidates who memorise clause numbers without intent write hollow answers.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Can you run an audit process?<\/strong> Scoping, planning, sampling, opening meeting, evidence trail, closing meeting, report. The paper hands you a situation partway through and asks what you do next. Reading how <a href=\"\/OM\/iso-audit-procedure\/\">an ISO audit procedure<\/a> runs end to end is decent background for this part.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Can you judge evidence?<\/strong> Here is where most marks are won and lost. You are given something a client said, showed or failed to show. You decide what it proves, what it doesn't, and what you would look at next.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Can you lead?<\/strong> A lead auditor manages people. Team members who disagree. An auditee who turns defensive. A colleague who wants to raise a nonconformity on a hunch. ISO 37001:2025 was published in February 2025 and replaces the 2016 version. Organisations holding certificates to the older edition work to a transition deadline of 28 February 2027, so audits during this period frequently involve transition questions. The course covers that reality, and so may your paper.<\/p>\n<p>The changes matter because a question can hinge on any of them. The standard now follows the harmonized structure. \"Stakeholders\" has become \"interested parties\" throughout. Under 4.1 and 4.2, climate change has to be weighed when you work out context and what interested parties need. Culture is no longer left to inference: 5.1.3 sets out anti-bribery culture as something the organisation must actually deliver. Employment processes pick up a duty in 7.2.2, which pulls awareness of conflicts of interest into hiring and the steps around it. What the anti-bribery function does, where it sits and how independent it has to be are all described in plainer terms than before. Mergers and acquisitions join the non-financial controls by way of clause 8.4. Clause 10 is reordered: 10.1 covers continual improvement, 10.2 covers nonconformity and corrective action.<\/p>\n<p>One more point of substance. The standard addresses bribery in four directions. Bribery by the organisation. Bribery by its own personnel. Bribery committed on its behalf by a business associate. And bribery aimed at the organisation from outside. Candidates routinely forget the fourth. A scenario about a supplier trying to influence a tender evaluator sits squarely inside scope. Answers that treat the organisation only as a potential offender miss half the point.<\/p>\n<p>Questions sometimes probe another limit, so state it plainly. Certification to ISO 37001 does not prove that no bribery has occurred. Nor does it promise that none will occur. A management system reduces risk and demonstrates due diligence. It is not a clean bill of health, and an auditor who implies otherwise has misunderstood the standard.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"how-do-the-five-days-build-towards-the-answers-you-will-need\"><\/span>How do the five days build towards the answers you will need?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>The week is not front-loaded theory followed by a test. It is cumulative, and the exam assumes you noticed.<\/p>\n<p>Early on you work through the standard clause by clause, always with an audit question attached: what would you ask to see here? By midweek you are planning an audit against a case organisation, arguing about scope, and deciding which processes carry the most bribery risk. That argument seeds several exam answers.<\/p>\n<p>Then come the interviews. Delegates take turns questioning a tutor playing a procurement manager or a country director. This is the part people find hardest and remember longest. You learn quickly that \"do you have a policy?\" gets you nowhere, and that \"walk me through the last third party you onboarded\" gets you everything.<\/p>\n<p>The back half of the week is findings and reporting. You draft nonconformities, get them picked apart, and redraft them. You grade them. You defend them at a mock closing meeting.
